HISTORY ;;
Little is known about the curiously eccentric wandering scholar who calls herself Aelbhe.
She first appeared in Tarra as an inquisitive young lady twelve years ago. She rented a little apartment over an old bookstore and daily checked their new stock. She tore through library after library, stacks of books piled nearly to the ceiling, none of them seeming related to one another in the slightest. She grilled librarians with scattershot questions, put herself in the path of influencial scholars and experimental mages, innovators and historians. For four months, she made her presence known far more loudly and clearly than most Kilians ever did, and was a constant fixture of the intellectual community, always with her strange investigations of seemingly unrelated matters and shockingly insightful commentary on Kilian history and advanced magical theory.
And then, quite as suddenly as she arrived, she wished all her connections and friends farewell, left a large sum of money with her landlord, and was gone, just like that.
Tarra buried the ghost of Aelbhe within the month. Some remembered her fondly and missed her strange company, most filed her away with a long list of others like her and forgot she'd ever been there. She was far from the first eccentric Forest Noble to appear in the cities, and she would not be the last. All assumed she'd found whatever strange nugget of truth she'd been searching for, and had vanished back into the mist with her secrets well in hand, never to be seen again.
But they were all wrong. Not a year after she'd left, on the Day of Everlasting Darkness, Aelbhe reappeared in Tarra. She took up residence in her old apartment, reconnected with all of her friends and contacts, and once again began that same unfocused exploration into absolutely everything. She came with tales of how she'd spent her time away -- Taln and Tiranoe, deep forest and open road, crumbling manors and cozy villages both curled around their odd secrets. She shared stories of the people she'd met and how she'd helped them solve their problems and mysteries. And whenever she was asked why she'd come back to Tarra, she only replied that she was looking for something.
Before May was over, she was gone again.
It's become the yearly routine. Tarra's intellectual community knows she's coming every December, predictable as the seasons, and they prepare themselves for her onslaught. She turns the libraries inside out and picks the brains of the scholars. She always seems full of silver and never does anything that earns any money. She knows curiously much in some fields, and yet seems woefully ignorant in others. She has friends and enemies and colleagues and contacts, but no one really knows her. For all her stories and questions and how much she loves to talk, little is truly known about Aelbhe.
But, of course, this is Kilia. Much may be wondered, but little is asked.
PERSONALITY ;;
Aelbhe is outgoing, upbeat, and impishly sweet. A poor listener for any great length of time, she loves talking and the back of forth of a fast-paced conversation, and is insatiably curious, constantly asking questions. So, too, is she a bit of a braggart, and loves being asked questions that she can give informed replies to. She's always armed with a twinkle in her eye, a white smile, and a tale with an ending that always either horrifies or delights. Known to laugh easily and often, she herself possesses a darkly playful sense of humour. She loves people and crowds and exciting places and gatherings, and she has a magnetic sort of charm that, despite her oddness, draws people to her.
But she is odd, no one would deny. Aelbhe occassionally seems to have no concept of basic facts of the world, and some of her questions have answers that any child would know. Her knowledge of complex, high level magical theory is astoundingly well-defined, but her grasp on the daily facts of practical magic seems tenuous. And no one has ever seen her actually use magic -- any. She does everything by hand or uses her boundless silver to have someone else do it for her. This eccentricity is unheard of in Kilian society, and never fails to make people eye each other curiously. Aelbhe always seems that she's searchings desperately for something -- admits, in fact, that she is. But no one has ever pried enough to ask what, and no one has the first idea of what it could be, based on her scattered investigations.
Despite an almost scandalously flirtatious and coquettish nature for a Kilian, Aelbhe has never been known to have any romantic entanglements. She goes quite silent when talk of love and marriage and family emerges, and her friends always whisper to themselves that they think she fights a losing battle against some black pit of loneliness every day.
APPEARANCE ;;
Petite, long-limbed and blonde, with ample curves but tiny waist, Aelbhe is gorgeous by anyone's standards. She styles her blonde hair in tightly curled pigtails and wears heavy cosmetics. She prefers low necklines and tight bodices, and her style of dress is always bordering on the scandalous. She has clear, beautiful blue eyes, and a sweet and pretty face.
